From 1 to 11 September 2021, the 78^th International Film Festival will be held in Venice Lido. Director Bong Joon Ho will be the president of the International Jury of the Competition, which will assign the Golden Lion for Best Film, as well as other official awards.

The Festival will host the out-of-competition world premiere of Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049), the highly anticipated big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal science fiction bestseller of the same name. The film will be shown on Friday 3 September 2021, in the Sala Grande at the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido di Venezia.
